How he came to us
Apollo was Jayne's dog. When Ivan met Jayne, he also met Apollo. It wasn't love at first sight, but it didn't take long for Apollo to win Ivan over with his cuddly, loving and outgoing nature.
Over the pandemic, Ivan started taking Apollo on walks to get some fresh air and exercise. Not long after, Apollo became Ivan's constant companion.
Things he loved
Apollo loved everyone he met. We would always say he's a people-person, not a dog-dog. Everywhere we walked, he would make new friends.
He was a certified maniac when it came to chasing balls. Walking next to tennis courts or near kids playing would be a problem because he would get so excited. When we played fetch, he would be laser-focused on the ball and could go for an hour without stopping.
His favorite human food was bread. He would pick bread over anything else if given the choice.
His "girlfriends"
He loved his favorite plushie and treated "her" like his girlfriend. He was so gentle that his stuffed toys would last him for years.
First came Piggy. He cherished her for years until she wore out and we couldn't find a replacement.
Then came Bunny, originally his backup, but she quickly became his new favorite.
Some silly facts about Apollo
He was a night owl like his parents. If he had to be up before noon, he would be grumpy the rest of the day. He'd often wake up, eat breakfast and then go back to sleep until the afternoon.
He would sometimes honk like a pig when he was upset or excited. We think he picked this up from Piggy.
When he wanted attention, his bark sounded like sneakers on a basketball court.
